4.   Post Graduate Work Visa Subclass 485

Also known as a Temporary Graduate Visa, the 485 Visa allows you to stay in Australia after you finish your studies and start a new life there.

You can apply for a graduate visa 485 in either of two ways, based on the type of education you completed in Australia:

1. Graduate Work stream

2. Post-Study Work stream.

The length of your stay will vary based on the sort of visa you hold. The Australian government recently modified the post-study employment visa in a few ways.

With the new 485 Visa requirements, you may be given some relief if Covid-19 harmed you and you were enrolled in any courses with an Australian institution of higher education.

Eligibility Criteria for 485 Visa Australia

Several requirements must be met to qualify for a 485 visa. Such as

  • You must have been enrolled in a course in Australia for at least the past nine months 
  • You have successfully completed a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral program listed on the CRICOS.
  • Your credentials must be either: A degree from an Australian institution  (post-study Work Stream) or (ii) a connection to a position on the list of skilled vocations (Work Stream)
  • Applicants must be younger than 50 years of age.
  • Must prove your English proficiency
  • You must submit your Form 485 within six months of completing your course.
