2.  Skilled Regional Visa 491

As of November 16, 2019, the Skilled Work Regional Visa – Subclass 489 will be replaced by the Skilled Work Regional Visa – Subclass 491.

An eligible Australian relative who resides in a “Designated Area” or who is nominated by a participating state or territory government may sponsor skilled workers under the terms of Visa 491.

491 Visa Visa is initially valid for four years, after which you can apply to change your status to permanent residence. At this point, you’ll be able to live and work there permanently and eventually apply for citizenship.

491 Visa- Processing Time

According to current processing times, the following are the options:

a.     For state-nominated stream

1. 75 percent of all visa application takes roughly 6 months, and

2. For 90 percent, it takes 8 months.

b.     For family-sponsored stream

1. 75% of all visa applications take about 9 months,

2. 90% of visa applications take about 10 months.

2.  Skilled Nominated Visa 190

A state or territory of Australia may nominate skilled workers for the Skilled Nominated 190 Visa. 

When requesting a Skilled Nominated Visa 190 under the Skilled Migration Australia Program, you must be prepared to live in the state or territory that has nominated you and commit to staying there for at least two years.

Home Affairs, however, usually takes

  • 4 months to process the 25% of applications
  • 7 months for 50% of the visa applications
  • 8 months for 75% of applications.
  • 10 months or less for 90% of applications

7.    EOI  

An EOI has to have been submitted.
